Rules To Seven-card Stud And Razz Poker By http://www.card-game-poker.com/
Seven-Card Studis still a favorite among many poker players. Like most poker games, strategy and skill will separate the winners from the losers. Here is how the game is played:
1. Before any cards are dealt, each player must make a small contribution to the pot called an ante. There are no blinds in Seven-card Stud. The amount of the ante is determined by the table stakes of the game you are playing. The dealer position does not rotate as in blind games.
2. After the ante each player is dealt three cards. The first 2 cards are dealt face down (called hole cards or private cards) and the 3rd card is dealt face up (called an up card or door card).
3. The first round of betting is known as third street. The betting begins with the player having the lowest ranked up card. The player cannot fold because this is a forced bet. The amount of the bet must be at least the specified minimum, called the bring-in, although it can be more. The bring-in is usually one-fourth the lower limit. If two or more players have the same rank of up card, then a determination must be made as to which player must make the bring-in bet. This is accomplished by suit, in reverse bridge order (clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades). This is one of the few times that suits have any bearing in poker. The forced bettor can open for the bring-in or complete the bet, that is, increase the bet to the lower limit. If the player chooses to open for the bring-in, each player can fold, call (match the bring-in), or complete the bet (increase the bet to the lower limit).
4. A second card is dealt face up, known as fourth street. Players still in the hand participate in a second round of betting. On fourth and all successive streets, the betting always starts with the player showing the best hand. If two or more players tie for the best hand, then the betting
begins with the player closest to the left of the dealer. In all rounds after third street, the player first to act can check or make a bet. If any player bets, each succeeding player can choose to fold, call the bet, or raise. There is a maximum of three raises in any round of betting.
5. A third card is dealt face up, known as fifth street. A third round of betting begins. The betting process is the same as fourth street.
6. A fourth card is dealt face up, known as sixth street. A fourth round of betting begins. The betting process is the same as fourth and fifth streets.
7. A final card is dealt face down known as the river or seventh street. If there are not enough cards left to deal each player a card face down, then a community card will be placed, face up, in the center of the table and will be shared by all players. This is the fifth and final betting round. The betting process is the same as the three previous rounds.
8. After the final round of betting is complete it is time for the showdown. The player with the highest hand wins the pot. If hands are identical the pot is split.
Make sure you have a clear understanding of the rules before playing Seven-card Stud with real money.
Razz Pokeris a Seven-card Stud poker game where the lowest hand wins the pot. The rules are pretty straightforward. The lowest possible hand in Razz is 5-4-3-2-A, otherwise known as a (wheel). A flush or straight won't count against you and aces are always counted as low. The lowest hand wins the pot. For example, a hand of 6-5-3-2-A would lose to a hand of 6-4-3-2-A. That's about all there is to playing Razz. Just don't forget that aces are always counted as low.
